Vegan Ranch Dressing

vegan ranch

Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower is one of our favorite meals in my house. The issue I have and some of you may relate is I’m a baby when it comes to heat! Especially hot sauces that are vinegar-based, so I need a lot of ranch. We got tired of spending $4-6 dollar on a bottle of vegan ranch, and so we were inspired to make our own vegan ranch dressing.

What to replace the buttermilk flavor with?

We use yogurt for the main replacement for buttermilk. It’s thick and has a tangy flavor as buttermilk ranch would. If you can’t make or buy vegan yogurt try adding ¼ tsp of lemon juice to vegan mayo or sour cream. This would work fine as well.

Why the cashews?

We started adding soaked cashews to the mixture after discovering adding just the seasoning to the yogurt would make it too runny and even after sitting in the fridge overnight, it would not set.

What should you serve with this vegan ranch dressing?

My top suggestion would be our Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower.

Otherwise, serve with your favorite vegetables, on a salad, and hey you can even dip your pizza in it, we don’t judge.

Vegan Ranch Dressing

This easy vegan ranch dressing can be made in about 5 minutes.
Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Equipment

  • Blender or food proccesor.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cashews (soaked for at least 30 minutes)
  • 1 cup plain vegan yogurt (We used silk plain almond milk one when we weren't using our homemade yogurt. It’s okay to just use the 5.3 oz container.)
  • 1 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp parsley (dried or fresh)
  • 1/2 tbsp chives (dried or fresh)
  • 2 tbsp dill (dried or fresh)

Instructions

  • Soak the cashews for at least 30 minutes. Then drain the cashews and toss them in a blender or food processor.
  • Next, add the yogurt into the blender.
  • Blend the yogurt and cashews for several minutes or until there are no cashew bits left.
  • Next add the garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt.
  • Blend again.
  • Next, add the mixture into a container that has a lid.
  • Mix in the remain herbs and put in the fridge for at least 15 minutes before serving. We found that the mixture thickened up after sitting in the fridge and the herbs infused into the ranch.
  • Serve with our Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower or some vegetables.
